Technician repairing a windshield chip

Windshield Repair

Save Money, Save Time

Windshield chip repair is the fastest, cheapest way to stop damage from spreading. Windshields are one of the most important safety features of any vehicle. For that reason, we recommend getting your windshield repaired as soon as you notice a chip or crack. It’s inexpensive to fix a small crack or chip if it’s caught in time. If the crack increases over time, it may become too large to repair and a full windshield replacement will be necessary. Our expert auto glass technicians will assess the damage and give you a free estimate. Once a plan of action is agreed upon, one of our professional technicians will quickly repair your windshield with precision and accuracy. We can even send a technician out to you with our free mobile service.

Common Types of Auto Glass Breaks include:

Windshield chip repair: technician filling a rock chip with resin

Windshield chip repair works best when you act early. A small chip can turn into a long crack after one hot afternoon or one cold morning, and at that point the only fix is a new windshield. So if you see a chip, call us or send a photo the same day.

How windshield chip repair works

First, our technician cleans the damaged spot and removes air and moisture. Next, we inject a clear resin under pressure. Then we cure the resin with UV light, which bonds it to the glass. As a result, the chip stops spreading and becomes much harder to see. In most cases, the whole job takes less than an hour, and we do it at your home or work.

When a repair is not enough

However, some damage is too big to repair. Long cracks, cracks that reach the edge, and damage right in front of the driver usually mean a windshield replacement. Not sure which one you need? Read our guide to windshield repair or replacement.

Also, many insurance companies cover windshield chip repair with no deductible, because it costs far less than a new windshield. The Insurance Information Institute explains how comprehensive coverage handles glass damage. For power windows, leaks or other glass, see auto glass repair.
